This young lady was photographed by Weyrich’s studios in Hillsboro. This is an example of a cabinet card, a type of photograph popular from the 1860s to the 1910s. It was a photograph mounted on 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" card stock. The name of the photographer was printed at the bottom of the card or on the back side.

“Buona Pasqua,” Happy Easter in Italian, is printed on the bottom of this card. The card was postmarked 1944 by the U. S. Army Post Office in Italy. During World War II mail sent by soldiers to the United States was inspected to be sure that vital intelligence was not being given to the enemy. This card was sent by a soldier to a family member in Springfield, Ohio.
